The Crossing Site of the Liu-Deng Army is located in Zhangkang Village, Fogexi Town, Xincai County. In July 1947, the Chinese People's Liberation Army shifted from strategic defense to strategic offense. - and - led the main forces of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Field Army across the Yellow River heading south. Chiang Kai-shek deployed heavy troops along the southern bank of the Ru River at the border of Xincai and Zhengyang counties in an attempt to annihilate our army north of the Ru River. On the afternoon of August 23, - issued the battle order: “When two foes meet on a narrow path, the brave will prevail. We must fight through at all costs.” With strong support from local residents, our army captured the bridgeheads on the southern bank of the Ru River — the Greater and Lesser Leigang positions. By 4 p.m. the following day, the vanguard forces of the Liu-Deng Army, consisting of over 50,000 troops and more than 200 military vehicles, forcefully crossed the Ru River at Zhangkang Village, Fogexi Town, Xincai County. They broke free from pursuing enemy forces behind them, advanced a thousand miles into the Dabie Mountains, and pressed toward the ruling center of Chiang Kai-shek’s regime in Nanjing, accelerating the course of China’s revolution.
