Guozhong Ruins

Guozhong Ruins is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Henan Province.

Guozhong is located in Shen Zhuang Village, Guanjin Township, about 4 kilometers southwest of Xincai County. It stands 9 meters high, covers an area of 40,000 square meters, and is circular in shape with a relatively thick cultural layer. The surface is densely scattered with artifacts, including chiseled plain pottery tripod legs, short-legged ding legs with fine cord marks and low feet, thin cord-marked pottery pots, red-painted pottery trumpet-shaped tall-footed cups, spiral-patterned flat-bottomed black pottery jars, black cord-marked jar rims, as well as perforated crescent-shaped stone knives, stone blades, plain pottery spinning whorls, sawtooth-patterned clamshell sickles, stone adzes, broken polished stone tools, bone awls, along with large quantities of clamshells, mussels, animal bones, deer antlers, and broken pottery fragments. The northern part has more red-fired soil, with gray pottery fragments being more common than red ones.

Judging from the pottery fragments collected at the site, it was in use from the Neolithic period through the Spring and Autumn Period, the Warring States Period, the Han Dynasty, the Song Dynasty, and up to the Ming Dynasty.

On August 16, 1988, the site was designated as a provincial-level key cultural relics protection unit.
