The Liu-Deng Army Huai River Crossing Memorial is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Liu-Deng Army Huai River Crossing Memorial is located in Dongxiaowangwan Village, Dabukou, Xixian County.

On August 27, 1947, the Liu-Deng Army broke through the enemy's multiple blockades, crossed the treacherous Huai River, and entered the Dabie Mountains, successfully accomplishing the strategic mission of the Thousand-Mile March into the Dabie Mountains. To commemorate the Liu-Deng Army’s crossing of the Huai River and advance into the Dabie Mountains, to remember the great contributions of revolutionary predecessors, to honor the fearless revolutionary spirit of the martyrs, and to recreate the magnificent journey of the Liu-Deng Army’s Thousand-Mile March into the Dabie Mountains, the People's Government of Xixian County, Henan Province, built the Liu-Deng Army Huai River Crossing Memorial, Monument, Square, and Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery at the historic site of the crossing.

The historic site of the Liu-Deng Army Huai River Crossing at Dabukou Ferry is located about 2 kilometers south of the Huai River’s northern bank ferry in Dabukou, Xixian County. In ancient times, it served as a key passage into the Chu region and held significant strategic importance. Overlooking Pugong Mountain to the south and facing the surging Huai River to the west, it was the crucial gateway into the Dabie Mountains. To forever remember the great contributions of revolutionary predecessors, to honor the fearless revolutionary spirit of the martyrs, and to fully explore and utilize the historical resources of red culture, the People's Government of Xixian County, Henan Province, decided to establish the Liu-Deng Army Huai River Crossing Square, Monument, and Exhibition Hall at the historic site, aiming to promote the development of local cultural tourism. Li Desheng, former Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Committee and veteran general from Xin County, who personally participated in the Huai River crossing operation, inscribed: “Crossing the Huai southward, the Thousand-Mile March into the Dabie Mountains — a strategic move that tolled the death knell for the Kuomintang!”

In 2005, the red tourism sites at the Liu-Deng Army Huai River Crossing historic site in Xixian County — including Dabukou and the Huai River Crossing Monument — were incorporated into Xinyang City’s “Thousand-Mile March” Red Tourism Premium Route and designated as one of the national red tourism route attractions. On November 21, 2008, Shi Zhongquan, former Deputy Director of the CPC Central Party History Research Office, made a special trip to Xixian County to inspect the historic site of the Liu-Deng Army Huai River Crossing and instructed that the site be well preserved. We deeply commemorate Marshal Liu Bocheng, Comrade Deng Xiaoping, and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation who made outstanding contributions to the founding of New China. Their fearless, sacrifice-driven, and victory-seeking revolutionary spirit during the Huai River crossing will forever inspire us as we strive to build the Central Plains Economic Zone and the vibrant Xixian County.
