Site of Licheng

The Site of Licheng is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province.

The Site of Licheng, located about 100 meters north of Xincun in Wangjiagang Township, northeast of the county seat, was discovered during the 1978 cultural relics survey. The site is a relatively regular rectangular high terrace extending from north to south, standing 5–7 meters above the ground. The terrain slopes from south to north, covering an area approximately 280 meters long from north to south and 110 meters wide from east to west, with a cultural layer about 4 meters thick. The soil at the site consists mostly of yellowish-brown and gray-black earth, with only small amounts of red fired earth. Artifacts found and collected on the site are mostly fragmented pottery pieces, including clay-sand gray pottery items such as tripods, li tripods, bowls, jars, and small spinning whorls. The decorative patterns include combed patterns, corded patterns, and plain surfaces. It is a late Neolithic Age site. In 1982, the county government designated the site as a county-level key cultural relic protection unit and erected explanatory signage. It is currently well preserved.
