Dazhongzi Site

The Dazhongzi Site is a protected cultural heritage site of Henan Province.

The Dazhongzi Site is located in Xulou Village, Maxi Town, west of the county town. It was discovered during the 1984 cultural relics survey. The site is a raised terrace with layers of gray soil deposits, rising in the center to a height of 1–3 meters. It stretches 150 meters from east to west and 120 meters from north to south, with higher ground in the north and lower in the south. Its western edge borders a creek, and cultural layers up to 2.50 meters thick can be seen in cross-sections. There are numerous surface relics, and artifacts that have been discovered and collected include stone axes, stone adzes, stone sickles, perforated stone knives, a large number of broken pottery fragments, and various types of tripod feet. The pottery fragments are predominantly gray pottery mixed with sand and clay. Artifact types include tripods, li cooking vessels, bowls, jars, and dou stemmed vessels. Decorative patterns feature herringbone, cord marks, incised lines, and appliqué ridges. This is a late Neolithic Age site. In 1989, the county government designated it as a county-level key cultural heritage protection unit. It is currently well preserved.

Xulou Village: Xulou Village is situated in the northern part of Maxi Town, approximately 4 kilometers from the town government. The village has well-developed rural roads, making farming and business activities very convenient.

The village has a total of 3,785 mu of arable land and includes 10 villager groups: Xulou Group, Limang Group, Gaomang Group, Pengmang Group, Wuzhuke Group, Caizhai Group, Zhai'mang Group, Wumang Group, Xiaying Group, and Huangzhai Group. There are 486 households and a population of 2,427.
