Shangqiu Shangjun Tomb is a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction:

Located behind Shangjun Tomb Village in Limin Town, Yucheng County, southwest of Shangqiu. There used to be a temple in front of the tomb, but it was later abandoned. In the 41st year of the Kangxi reign (1702) during the Qing Dynasty, Cheng Benjie, the magistrate of Yucheng County, wrote an inscription and erected two stone tablets. In the 10th year of the Yongzheng reign (1732), the Sheji Shangjun Altar was built, where seasonal sacrifices were held every spring and autumn. The area around the tomb was densely forested and guarded by a forest keeper. Now only the tomb mound remains, approximately 4 meters high with a circumference of 110 meters. It is a county-level cultural relics protection unit.

Henan Shangqiu

Shangjun was the son of Emperor Shun—one of the Five Emperors—and his wife Ehuang. He was born in Shang (present-day Shangqiu, Henan) during ancient times. Shangjun was diligent and hardworking in his studies and was good friends with Yi and Yu. However, Emperor Shun believed that Shangjun only knew how to sing and dance, but lacked the ability to govern the court and manage state affairs. As a result, historical records and folk legends about him are particularly scarce.

Shangjun Tomb is located about 12.5 kilometers north of present-day Yucheng County, in the southwest of Yangzhuang Village, Limin Township. The remaining tomb mound is 3.8 meters high and covers an area of 960 square meters. It has been one of the scenic spots of Yucheng County throughout the dynasties.

Limin Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Yucheng County. Before liberation, it was called Shangjun Town; after liberation, it served as the county government seat and was named Chengguan Town. In 1954, when the county government moved out, the town was dissolved and placed under Limin Township. In 1981, it was re-established as a town. Located in the northern part of the county, it covers an area of 2 square kilometers with a population of 11,000. It administers ten village committees: Beidajie, Nandajie, Xidajie, Dongdajie, Xiguan, Nanguan, Beiguan, Dongguan, Fan Dalou, and Laodongzhuang.
