Bethune and Kotnis Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Bethune and Kotnis Memorial Hall is located at the foot of Zhongming Mountain, 2 kilometers north of Tang County. It was completed in 1986. The site covers an area of 45,950 square meters, with a building area of 2,300 square meters. The main structures consist of the "Bethune Memorial Hall," the "Kotnis Memorial Hall," and the "Memorial Hall." The entire complex is grand in scale and exquisitely designed, featuring traditional Chinese architectural style.

The two halls jointly display over 300 precious historical photos and more than 200 artifacts. They provide a detailed account of the illustrious lives of Doctors Bethune and Kotnis, reflecting the noble character, exceptional medical skills, strong sense of responsibility, dedication, and selfless spirit of these two internationalist fighters.

Since its establishment, the memorial hall has been visited by Party and state leaders including —, Wang Heshou, Liu Lantao, Yang Chengwu, Lü Zhengcao, —, among others; as well as international friends from over ten countries including Canada, India, Japan, and New Zealand. In 1997, the memorial hall was designated as a Hebei Provincial Patriotic Education Base by the provincial Party committee and government. In June of the same year, it was named a National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.

The memorial hall is integrated with the urban area of Tang County, where visitors can find accommodation and dining options. The city offers hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers of varying standards. Travelers can take the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway or the Beijing-Shenzhen Expressway, exit at Wangdu, then head west from Wangdu County to Tang County and turn right. Alternatively, one can travel from Baoding along the Baofu Highway (Baoding to Fuping) to Tang County.

Bethune (1890–1939), full name Henry Norman Bethune, was Canadian. He graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1914. With World War I underway, he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force and served in combat in England, France, and Belgium. After being wounded, he returned home to continue his studies and earned a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1916. In 1917, he enlisted again, serving in both the Canadian Navy and Air Force. After the war ended in 1918, he studied and interned in six Western European countries. In 1923, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
