Rongcheng Haoyunjiao Tourist Resort

The Rongcheng Haoyunjiao Tourist Resort covers a land area of 280 square kilometers, surrounded by sea on three sides, with a coastline stretching 112 kilometers. It administers three towns: Chengshan, Gangxi, and Buliu.

Haoyunjiao was anciently known as "Chaowu Land," meaning that its breathtaking scenery was so enchanting that even the morning sun would linger and dance with joy. The village of Buyi within the resort was a city built by the State of Lai during the Spring and Autumn Period. In 219 BC and 210 BC, Emperor Qin Shi Huang visited twice to worship the Sun God, leaving behind historical relics and cultural sites such as the "Qin Bridge Ruins," "Standing Stone of the Qin Dynasty," "Sea Monster Shooting Platform," "End of the Sky," and "Temple of Qin Shi Huang." In 94 BC, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty traveled eastward to Chengshantou, where he built the "Sun God Temple" to worship the sun and admire the sea. The county of Buyi was first established in the Western Han Dynasty and belonged to the Donglai Commandery. During the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty, the Chengshan Guard was set up. In the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty, the guard was upgraded to a county. Before 1939, it served as the seat of Rongcheng County. In December 1995, with approval from the Shandong Provincial Government, the Swan Lake Provincial Tourist Resort was established. In 2007, the State Council approved the creation of the National Swan Ecological Reserve.

The area boasts an abundance of "sea, beaches, islands, reefs, lakes, and pine forests," offering a comprehensive range of tourism resources. In 2005, it was named one of China’s most beautiful coastlines by National Geographic Magazine.

Self-Drive Guide:

Take G20 Qingdao–Yinchuan Expressway → Weilai Expressway → Yantai–Weihai Expressway → exit at Weihai → drive along Shichang Avenue to Xingfu Gate → turn right onto Haibin Road → follow signs straight ahead to the roundabout, then turn left → Daqing Road → continue straight in the direction of Xingang → after seeing the railway bridge, turn right (signs indicate 42 km to Xixiakou and 52 km to Chengshantou), and follow the coastal road directly to the resort.
