Red Stone Geological Park

In the Daijian area to the Jiaolong Lake section along the ancient Shuhe River in the southwestern part of Shimen Town, Linshu County, there lies a unique and world-rare geological landscape belt of red stone conglomerate. Some formations undulate like hills, while others stand as sheer cliffs, featuring distinctive shapes and majestic grandeur. These formations objectively and vividly reflect the landscape features and pristine state of the Cretaceous period, the age of dinosaurs, covering a total area of 150 square kilometers.

Particularly notable are the conglomerate red stone landscapes represented by the "Mother Praying in Gaze" in Xiaodaijian, which have given rise to mythical legends such as "Goddess Nüwa Mending the Sky," "Queen Mother’s Immortal Gathering," and "Erlang God Chasing the Mountain." These tales are nothing short of magical, giving rise to the ancient saying: “Find tranquility in a landscape painting, and become immortal simply by being in Daijian.” The formations feature peculiar shapes, undulating heights, and ever-changing scenery with every step—where ruggedness meets grace, and fine details reveal grandeur. Peaks and cliffs seem to rise or hang in mid-air, gullies and caves appear and disappear, creating a poetic and picturesque scene that inspires awe at nature’s master craftsmanship. It offers not only a breathtaking experience but also an educational journey through ancient geological knowledge. The Red Stone Park has been officially recognized by authoritative geologists as the only geological park in China with significant academic value. With the development of tourism, it will become a highlight of unique tourism resources both within the province and nationwide.

Shimen Town: Located in the southern part of Linshu County, at the junction of three counties across Shandong and Jiangsu provinces, Shimen Town covers an area of 128.3 square kilometers. It administers 29 administrative villages (streets) comprising 75 natural villages, with a population of 53,000, making it one of the key towns in southern Shandong and northern Jiangsu. In 1995, it was honored as a “Famous Town of Huaihai Economic Zone,” and in 1996, it was named a “New-Type Township of Shandong Province” by the Shandong Provincial Government. Provincial Highway S225 runs north-south through the town, providing very convenient transportation. The eastern part is plain, while the western part is mostly hilly, with 6,667 hectares of arable land. Traditional crops mainly include wheat, corn, peanuts, and sweet potatoes.
