Jiagu Pass Tourist Area

Jiagu Pass Tourist Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Jiagu Pass Tourist Area is located in Yushan Town, Linshu County, Shandong Province, 30 kilometers from the county seat and 3 kilometers from the Linshu exit of Qingdao-Linyi Expressway. It is a national AAA-level tourist attraction, a national patriotic education base, and a national defense education base. In 2011, a former member of the Politburo Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense—personally inscribed the site with the words “Red National Defense Education Base.”

The main peak of Jiagu Mountain stands at an elevation of 304.9 meters and is situated at the junction of the triangular area where Linyi, Rizhao, and Lianyungang meet. The historically famous meeting of the Qi and Lu states took place here. Existing ruins of architectural complexes include the Hall of Sages, Temple of Sages, Hall of Sanctification, Kuixing Pavilion, and Jiagu Academy, covering a construction area of approximately 15,000 square meters.

The valleys of Jiagu Mountain are deep and lush with trees. The wind blowing through stone caves produces chirping sounds resembling birdsong, faint and elusive, forming one of the “Eight Scenic Spots of Ganyu”—“Orioles Singing in Jiagu.” The mountain also features scenic spots such as the Spring of the Sages, 0 Grandma Cave, Mengliang Rock, Echoing Stone, and Nishan Fenshu.

Jiagu Mountain holds a strategically important geographical location. During the Anti-Japanese War, New China’s marshals such as Liu Shaoqi, Luo Ronghuan, and Chen Yi visited here to survey the terrain and direct battles. Following Chairman Mao Zedong’s call to “dig deep tunnels and stockpile grain,” and with the approval of the Central Military Commission, a ten-year project from 1958 to 1968 resulted in the excavation of an underground military wartime tunnel. The main passage of this underground tunnel is 3,100 meters long, and the cat-ear cave passage is 2,000 meters long, forming a herringbone layout with three entrances: eastern, northern, and southwestern. The northern entrance is within Linshu, while the eastern and southwestern entrances are in Jiangsu Province.

In 2013, it was developed with an investment of 300 million yuan by Shandong Jinlan Culture Media Co., Ltd. With the theme “Sacred Jiagu · A World of Its Own,” the area was planned to include functional zones such as the Entrance Service Area, Educated Youth Culture Village, Underground Wartime Command, Tea Culture Zone, Fruit Picking Area, Historical Exploration Zone, Mountain Forest Sightseeing Area, and Leisure Resort Area.
