The Shuhe Ancient Channel Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Shuhe Ancient Channel Scenic Area is located in the southwestern part of Linshu County, about 15 kilometers from the county town, and is a national AA-level scenic area. The ancient channel runs 14.25 kilometers from the People's Victory Weir at the Daguanzhuang Water Control Project in the north to the Qingquan Temple Sluice in the south, with water depths of 3–5 meters and a maximum width of 300 meters. The meandering waterways are dotted with reeds and teeming with waterfowl. The natural scenery here is strikingly beautiful, earning it the nicknames "Li River of Northern China" and "No. 1 Water Town in Southern Shandong."

The Shuhe Ancient Channel boasts rich and diverse tourism resources along its banks, featuring a wide array of historical and cultural sites. Key attractions include the ancient battlefield site of the Battle of Maling at Yangshan Mountain, the Qingmai Ravine Paleolithic Site, the Daikan Danxia landform, the Jishan Dinosaur Fossil Site, and the discovery location of the Changlin Diamond. These sites complement the picturesque scenery of the channel, offering high value for both sightseeing and scientific research.

A hundred miles of the Shuhe River, a hundred miles of green; a hundred birds nesting, a hundred birds singing. The hundred-mile-long Shuhe River features pristine ecology, resembling a stunning painting of a southern water town. Drifting along the river, one can gaze upon the water as it forms an emerald-green jade belt curving through the landscape, slicing through nearby hills and blending seamlessly with the sky and mountains. The harmonious interplay of landscape, water, and sky creates a poetic and picturesque scene. No wonder an ancient poem reads: “The river may lack half the grandeur of Li River’s hills, but Li River pales beside Shuhe’s sevenfold serenity; boundless willows veil the blue of water and sky, spring dwells east of Langya in Yishu.”

Perhaps you might think the Shuhe Ancient Channel lacks the majestic waves of great rivers, or that its mountains are not as towering or precipitous as China’s famed sacred peaks.
