It was originally a large burial site for nobles and lords of the Qi State during the Spring and Autumn Period. Tomb No. 5 is a large tomb in the shape of the Chinese character "甲" (jiǎ). The tomb chamber measures 26 meters from north to south and 23 meters from east to west, with a southern tomb passage that is 18 meters long and about 12 meters wide. The sacrificial horses are arranged on the eastern, western, and northern sides of the tomb, forming a "U"-shaped pit. The eastern and western sections are each 70 meters long, while the northern section is 75 meters long.

In just the 36.5-meter southern end of the western side excavated in 1982, 106 sacrificed horses were discovered. Based on this density, it is estimated that the total number of sacrificial horses exceeds 600. Research suggests that this tomb belongs to Duke Jing of Qi.
