The Ancient Tomb of Guolaiyi

The Ancient Tomb of Guolaiyi, originally known as the Tomb of King Wei Bao, is located in Guolaiyi Village, Xinyang Township, Wudi County, covering an area of 1,575 square meters with a mound height of 4 meters. The 1936 *Wudi County Annals* recorded: “The Han-era Tomb of King Wei Bao lies seven li north of the city. Legend has it that when Han Xin marched from Yan to attack Qi, he encountered Wei Bao here. After three hundred rounds of battle, Wei Bao fell victim to armor-shedding wind (a sudden illness) and died in combat. Han Xin then ordered his soldiers to scoop earth and build this tomb.” In 1977, regional cultural heritage authorities conducted an excavation (selective survey) at the site, confirming it to be a Han Dynasty tomb, though the identity of the interred remains undetermined. In December of the same year, it was designated as a Provincial-Level Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the People’s Government of Shandong Province. In May 1987, a marker was erected identifying it as the “Ancient Tomb of Guolaiyi (named after the locality).”
