Chengjiao Site

The Chengjiao Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Binzhou City.

The Chengjiao Site is located about 200 meters southwest of Chengjiao Village, Xinyang Township, Wudi County. It is rectangular in shape, approximately 500 meters wide from north to south and about 1,000 meters long from east to west. It is said to consist of two parts: the main city and the Chengnan Hall. The Chengnan Hall has no walls, while the main city is fortified with four corner towers. There are no city gates on the east and west sides, and the site is surrounded by a moat. This fortress was once used for stationing troops, and there is also a general’s platform in the southwest, commonly referred to by locals as the Fishing Platform. Currently, the cultural layer of the site is about 2 meters thick, and excavations have unearthed artifacts such as Han Dynasty pottery dou and ding vessels, Song Dynasty stone coffins, ancient coins, and mace heads. It is an important site that integrates military, political, economic, and cultural elements. In July 2011, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Wudi County. On July 17, 2012, it was announced as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Binzhou City.
