Tomb of Zhang Bo

The Tomb of Zhang Bo is situated about 300 meters south of Duanjia Village, Chezhen Township, Wudi County, on the west bank of the Dehui New River. It spans an area of 1.5 mu, with a tomb base diameter of around 3 meters and a mound height of roughly 1.5 meters. Mr. Zhang Bo was the son of Zhang Mingqi, the Viceroy of Liangguang in the late Qing Dynasty, a globally acclaimed master architect, and the designer of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Throughout his career, he was responsible for more than 120 construction projects, making remarkable contributions to China’s architectural industry. He also generously provided free restoration designs for Haifeng Pagoda in Wudi County. After the passing of Master Zhang Bo, the county Party committee and government decided in 2002 to construct the Zhang Bo Memorial Hall. Mr. Zhang Bo passed away in Beijing in 1999 and was buried in his hometown. In July 2011, the tomb was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit by the Wudi County People's Government.
