Cuijiazhai Site

The Cuijiazhai Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Wudi County.

The Cuijiazhai Site is located north of Cuijiaqiao Village, Shuiwan Town, Wudi County. During the Yongle era of the Ming Dynasty, when Pantuotai became a cemetery, it was renamed “Cuijiazhai.” To the north of Cuijiazhai lies an earthen house called “Baiyunju,” with a black plaque inscribed in gold characters reading “Deep in the White Clouds.” The site contains 24 ancient cypress trees from the Ming Dynasty and extensive winter jujube orchards. It has been praised by local residents as a natural habitat for long-eared owls, and villagers have previously unearthed knife coins and pottery inkstones while digging. In July 2011, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Wudi County.
