The Former Residence of Zhang Yanzhong

The former residence of Zhang Yanzhong is a cultural relic protection unit of Wudi County.

The former residence of Zhang Yanzhong is situated on the west side of the northern end of Haifeng Road in the old urban area of Wudi County, Binzhou City. Zhang Yanzhong passed the imperial examination in 1829 (the ninth year of the Daoguang reign), holding positions such as Shujishi and Jiancha in the Hanlin Academy, before being transferred to serve as Prefect of Tingzhou in Fujian and Raozhou in Jiangxi. The residence was constructed in 1845 (the 25th year of the Daoguang reign), covering an area of 12 mu. Today, two rows of the main building remain, featuring a post-and-lintel style brick-and-wood structure that is well-preserved. In November 2002, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Wudi County.
