The Jinan Rail Transit Equipment Co., Ltd. Factory History Museum serves as a patriotic education base.

The Jinan Railway Works Factory History Museum is the former office building of the company’s first factory director, Dougmiri (a German), and is a four-story German-style building (with one basement floor and three above-ground floors). It is approximately 32 meters long, 16 meters wide, and 10 meters high, with a total floor area of about 1,434 square meters, and was completed in June 1909. This German-style building with Germanic architectural features stands out in its detailed decorations, such as the porch, roof structure, doors and windows, and stained glass. Its overall symmetrical design also incorporates elements of traditional Chinese architecture, making this Sino-Western fusion style relatively rare among factory office buildings constructed by Germany in China during the early 20th century. Starting in 2009, through careful planning, extensive collection efforts, meticulous design, and dedicated exhibition arrangement, the museum was officially opened on October 19, 2010, to commemorate the factory’s 100th anniversary.

The Railway Works Factory History Museum has three floors, three exhibition zones (one per floor), and eight exhibition halls. It houses over 500 photos and more than 300 cultural relics from different historical periods of the company’s development, comprehensively and vividly showcasing the company’s 100-year history. The first floor is the Company Development Achievements Exhibition Zone, displaying the company’s current products across five major industries: railway freight cars, wind power equipment, large steel structures, environmental technology, and mechanical and electrical equipment. The second floor is the Company Development History Exhibition Zone, presenting the important developmental stages and historical journey of the company over its 100 years since establishment. The third floor is the Company Party History and Labor Movement History Exhibition Zone, highlighting the glorious history of the company’s Party organization and labor union. Additionally, on the first floor of the Factory History Museum, there is a reception room where visitors can watch two documentary DVDs produced by the company: “A Century of the Works” (a 60-minute chronicle of the company’s development history) and “Red Memories” (a 25-minute account of the labor movement led by the company’s Party organization before the founding of the People’s Republic of China). The Factory History Museum serves as an important platform for fostering education in patriotism, love for the Party, love for the company, and dedication to one’s job, continuously strengthening the workforce. It also provides a highly valuable resource and platform for researching the hundred-year development history of China’s railways and Jinan’s modern industrial heritage.
