Lashan Park

Lashan Park is located at the southern end of Huaiyin District, covering an area of 1,128 mu with an elevation of 162 meters and stretching approximately 2.5 kilometers from east to west. Built upon its long history, profound culture, and unique location, Lashan Park integrates pleasant surroundings, proximity to greenery, and closeness to water bodies. It is an important part of Huaiyin District’s efforts to build a low-carbon green new city and achieve the goal of harmonious development between humans and nature.

The vegetation features a diverse arrangement of multi-species, multi-layered, and multi-colored plants. Through careful landscaping with various tree species, a "Colorful Lashan" theme has been created, offering a richly laid-out and seasonally distinct landscape. In spring and autumn, the mountainside bursts into a riot of colorful foliage, presenting a naturally beautiful scene of layered forests. Historically, Lashan was once called Lieshan (Hunting Mountain).

Legend has it that during the Eastern Han Dynasty, when General Geng Yan of Emperor Liu Xiu campaigned against Zhang Bu, he stationed troops here to hunt, shooting a great number of game animals—hence the name "Lieshan" (Hunting Mountain). Later, when Emperor Qianlong passed through Jinan on his way to the region, he remarked, “This mountain should be called Lashan, a mountain for worshipping deities and invoking auspiciousness,” leading to its renaming as “Lashan.” The mountain, with its steep and rugged terrain, has been a strategic military location since ancient times and served as the sole high ground at the western gate of Jinan during the Battle of Jinan.

In the development of Lashan Mountain Park, the government focused on constructing the eastern entrance and completing 40,000 square meters of development tasks. Old and dilapidated buildings were integrated into the park plan, creating an open leisure space for recreation, sightseeing, and fitness. This has turned the park into a welcoming "living room" for residents of the main urban area to relax and enjoy.

The park adopts a natural layout, with curved pathways connecting various scenic spots. Considering the steep terrain that makes it less convenient for visitors to linger and enjoy the view, micro-terrain features have been created in the green space at the foot of the mountain, where native plants are planted to form a plant landscape with distinct seasonal changes and rich layers. On the southern side near the mountain, land reclamation techniques have been used to connect with the mountain body, along with the design of hiking trails and rest platforms to facilitate climbing and resting for visitors.

Currently, Lashan Park has built basketball and soccer fields covering over 3,000 square meters and installed more than 50 sets of fitness equipment.
