The Ancient City Site of Duan Dian

The Ancient City Site of Duan Dian is a cultural heritage protection unit of Jinan City.

The ancient city site is located to the east of Gucheng Village, Duan Dian Town, Huaiyin District. Covering an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, it features cultural relics from the Longshan Culture, Shang-Zhou, and Han periods. During the 1990s cultural relics survey, fragments such as the rim of a gray sandy pottery jar and a black sandy pottery tripod from the Longshan Culture, as well as the rim of a gray clay pottery jar and the remains of a dou vessel from the Western Zhou Dynasty, and the rim of a gray clay pottery basin and jar from the Han Dynasty were collected. The location of the site corresponds with the historical records of the ancient Zhuyi City mentioned in various historical texts, making it one of the important Shang-Zhou period sites in Jinan. Specimens collected during this survey include the rim of a brown clay pottery jar from the Shang Dynasty, the rim of a gray clay pottery pot from the Warring States Period, and the body of a gray clay pottery jar from the Han Dynasty. This site holds significant value for studying settlements in the Jinan region during the Longshan era and the Shang-Zhou period. On December 20, 1995, it was designated as part of the second batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units and is also included in the "Chinese Cultural Relics Atlas • Shandong Volume."
