Traditional Residential Buildings in Dexin Lane, Jingshi Road

The traditional residential buildings in Dexin Lane, Jingshi Road are a protected cultural heritage site of Jinan City.

The traditional residential buildings in Dexin Lane, Jingshi Road are located at No. 259 (north wing), No. 261, No. 265, No. 267, No. 269 (north wing), No. 271, No. 273, No. 275, and No. 279 on Jingshi Road, Huaiyin District. Constructed in 1934, they were built by two affluent families of the time, the Zhangs and the Yans. Originally consisting of four large courtyards, the current layout has changed over time due to successive changes in residency, now comprising six traditional quadrangle courtyards along with several other traditional residential structures. Among them, the courtyards at No. 265 and No. 271 feature a blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles, with Western-style arched gateways and triangular parapet walls, hip-and-gable roofs on the main buildings, front porches, and Western-style Ionic columns. The interiors have wooden flooring, and the main room of No. 271 also includes a basement. The layouts of the other courtyards all consist of a main gate, rear southern rooms, east and west wing rooms, and a main house. The buildings all feature flush gable roofs, with the main houses having five bays and front porches, wooden pillars, and decorative elements such as wood lattice panels and brackets between the pillars. On December 20, 2013, they were designated as part of the fourth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units by the Jinan Municipal Government.
