6th Ring Road, Former Shandong Fengda Bank

The 6th Ring Road, Former Shandong Fengda Bank, is a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

Located at No. 27, 6th Ring Road, Huaiyin District, Jinan. Built in 1919, it faces east and covers an area of 600 square meters. The complex consists of two sections — front and rear — with the main street-facing building used for business and office purposes. Constructed with a brick, stone, and timber structure and topped with large tiles, it extends 12.6 meters from east to west and 23.3 meters from north to south, with a floor area of 454 square meters. The main structure has two floors, with a partial third floor (a raised mezzanine). The floor plan is concave-shaped, with a single-story porch protruding from the middle indented section. On both sides of the porch, the first floor features a continuous row of semi-circular arched colonnades with white columns. The second floor has flat arch windows, topped with a cornice parapet with intricate moldings that complete the eastern façade. The roof is sloped with red tiles and features arched dormer windows. The design of the southern, northern, and western walls is similar to that of the eastern façade but slightly simplified. The focal point of the building’s decoration is the eastern entrance: atop a tall stone base stand two unusually large white circular stone columns. The columns are short yet refined, with rich and full moldings on their capitals and bases, exuding strong visual tension. Above the two columns is an arched pediment. At the very top is a castle-like octagonal tower, formed by eight short, stout white columns supporting an octagonal metal roof. The rear auxiliary building served as staff dormitories, built with a brick, stone, and timber structure, featuring brick walls and large tile roofing. It extends 6.67 meters from east to west and 15.7 meters from north to south, with a floor area of 200 square meters, and includes two floors with a corridor.

Among modern buildings in Jinan, especially within the commercial district where European-style architecture is concentrated, this building boasts the most elaborate, rich, and ornate decorative techniques. It is the only example of Southern European (such as Spanish and Portuguese) Baroque architectural style in Jinan. Well-preserved, it stands out as a rare European-style building in the city’s commercial district that differs from those of German, British, American, or Japanese influence, making it of significant value. On December 20, 2013, it was designated by the Jinan Municipal Government as part of the fourth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units. On June 23, 2015, it was listed by the People's Government of Shandong Province as part of the fifth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units.

It borders the Daguanyuan Office of Shizhong District to the east and the Baohua Street Office of Tianqiao District to the north.
