Jiedi Mosque

Jiedi Mosque is located in Jiedi Town. It was originally built in the late Ming Dynasty, renovated in the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), and covers an area of 3,330 square meters. The main prayer hall combines a pavilion and a hall, featuring a wooden frame and brick-tile structure supported by four beams and four pillars. The hall is 25 meters long and 15 meters wide, with the combined height of the hall and pavilion reaching 20 meters. The pavilion has a hexahedral wooden lattice window design, and there is a covered porch in front of the hall. Within the mosque courtyard, lush trees shade the quiet paths, fragrant flowers fill the air, and uniquely beautiful dragon claw locust trees adorn the grounds, further highlighting the ancient elegance and cultural charm of Islamic architecture. During the Japanese invasion of China, the Jiedi Massacre took place within the mosque compound, resulting in severe damage to most of the structures. The mosque was repaired in 1938. It suffered varying degrees of destruction during the Cultural Revolution. In 1981, the local Hui community donated 14,000 yuan for its restoration. The mosque is now well-preserved and was among the first group of key cultural relic protection units designated by the People's Government of Cangzhou City.
