Aling City

Aling City is a cultural tourism attraction.

Aling City is located 12 kilometers northeast of Renqiu City, south of present-day Lingcheng Village. According to the *Renqiu County Annals*: “Aling County was established during the Western Han Dynasty, renamed Alu during the Xin Mang period, and was under the jurisdiction of Zhuo Commandery. In the second year of the Jianwu era of the Eastern Han Dynasty, it became the fief of Ren Guang, Marquis of Aling and Colonel of the Tiger Elite.” A poem titled “Mourning the Ancient Site of Lingcheng” by the Qing-era local poet Pang Xueya reads: The waters have eroded the battlements all around, yet the village name remains Lingcheng. Pity the land where Han emperors rewarded merit, now only reeds rustle and a wild goose cries. Time has passed a thousand autumns since those deeds were done, with withered grass clinging to the sky as I recall the ancient marquis. Only the bright moon of the Han Dynasty remains, shining upon the ruined city walls at night.
