Feicheng Niu Mountain Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Feicheng Niu Mountain Scenic Area (Niu Mountain National Forest Park) is located within the territory of Feicheng City in the western part of the Tai Mountain range, with a forest coverage rate of 93% in the park. The area boasts numerous historical sites, including the ancient Zisheng Temple from the Tang Dynasty, the wooden-structure-free Wenchang Pavilion built in the Ming Dynasty with an octagonal design, as well as Niu Mountain Temple, Sanqing Hall, and others. Among them, Mukouzhai is the most famous and is known as the “No. 1 Ancient Fort in Shandong.” To the west of Niu Mountain lies Tao Mountain, which features beautiful scenery, steep terrain, and many historical sites. Existing relics include the tomb of Fan Li, the hermitage site of Xi Shi, Qiyu Temple, the tomb of Tang Zhongmian’s mother, and a wealth of cultural remains related to Fan Li and Xi Shi. It is especially renowned for the Seventy-Two Caves, with an ancient legend stating that “Seventy-Two Caves of Tao Mountain, each giving birth to a spirit.” The main peak, Mukouzhai, is situated atop a mountain at an elevation of 524 meters, where over 3,600 meters of stone fortification walls still remain. The tall stone walls are equipped with bunkers, making it highly defensible—an exemplary piece of ancient military defensive engineering. It is said to have been the garrison site of the Song Dynasty heroine Mu Guiying. The cliff inscriptions on Tao Mountain are simple yet powerful, the Seventy-Two Caves offer secluded paths, and the stone-carved Buddha statues are diverse in form. In the first year of the Dazhong Xiangfu era of the Song Dynasty, Emperor Zhenzong visited Niu Mountain on his way back from the Tai Mountain Fengshan ceremony and bestowed upon it the name “Yucui Mountain” (Lush Green Mountain).
