Former Site of the Ludongbei District Committee

The Former Site of the Ludongbei District Committee is a national AAA-level tourist attraction, a cultural tourism site, and a classic red tourism destination.

The Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Ludongbei District Committee of the Communist Party of China is located on the west side of Hongqi Road, Nanjie Village, Qingquan Subdistrict, Guan County.

It was originally the Tongwen Book House of Guan County, a building from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period. The structure faces east and features hard-mounted hip-and-gable tiled roofs made of blue bricks, with raised-beam construction and lattice-patterned doors and windows.

From 1938 to 1946, it served successively as the office of the Ludong Special Committee of the CPC, the Ludongbei District Committee of the CPC, the Seventh Subdistrict Committee of the Jiluyu Area of the CPC, and the First Subdistrict Committee of the Southern Hebei Area of the CPC. Numerous national and local leaders, including Song Renqiong, Duan Junyi, Zhao Jianmin, Xu Yunbei, Yang Yichen, and Xu Mengxia, worked and lived here. From 2004 to 2009, the Guan County Party Committee and County Government restored and expanded the site in two phases, following the principle of preserving its original appearance. After five years of careful planning and through both phases of restoration and expansion, the entire site of the Former Ludongbei District Committee of the CPC has been developed into a comprehensive cultural tourism facility consisting of 17 ancient buildings, 7 courtyards, 1 square, and 1 office area. The first phase was officially completed and opened to the public on July 1, 2006, featuring the Guan County CPC History Exhibition Hall. The second phase was completed and opened on December 31, 2009, featuring the Guan County Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall. These two thematic exhibition halls have been integrated and arranged into seven display areas. Through a combination of photographs, charts, textual explanations, physical exhibits, and reconstructed scenes, they showcase the glorious history of Guan County from the late Neolithic period 4,100 years ago to the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China.

The Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Ludongbei District Committee of the CPC has become a project of China’s old revolutionary base areas, a national AA-level tourist attraction, an educational base for CPC member activities in Shandong Province, a moral education base for the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Liaocheng University, and a revolutionary tradition education base for the School of Ideological and Political Education and Marxism at Liaocheng University. As a top red tourism destination in Liaocheng, it attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year.
