Wu Lou Tomb Cluster

The Wu Lou Tomb Cluster is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Shandong Province.

The Wu Lou Tomb Cluster is located 0.5 km northwest of Wu Lou Village, Dingshui Township, Yanggu County. It dates back to the Han Dynasty. In 2013, the Wu Lou Tomb Cluster was designated as part of the fourth batch of Provincial-Level Cultural Heritage Protection Units by the People's Government of Shandong Province.

A total of five tombs have been discovered in this cluster. In August 1997, a salvage excavation was carried out on the largest tomb (designated M1). This tomb is a large brick-constructed burial structure with a "convex" plan layout, oriented at 185 degrees. It consists of a passageway, two burial chambers, and a surrounding corridor. The total north-south length of the burial chambers is 12.06 meters, and the maximum east-west width is 9.56 meters. Based on the tomb structure and unearthed artifacts, the Wu Lou Han Tomb is believed to date to the early Eastern Han Dynasty. Although the tomb had been looted in ancient times, a number of artifacts were still recovered, including 85 items such as pottery, bronze ware, and objects made of lead, stone, bone, as well as coins.

In terms of scale, it is classified as a medium-sized tomb. The design of the burial chambers surrounded by a corridor is generally associated with local officials, most of whom held relatively high ranks — not something commonly used by middle or small-scale landlords.

It borders Shen County to the west and Dongchangfu District to the north. The town currently has a population of 28,000, with 45,000 mu (approximately 3,000 hectares) of arable land. It administers 5 management areas, 39 administrative villages, and 13 directly affiliated town departments.
