Tomb of Liu Yan

The Tomb of Liu Yan is a cultural heritage site protected by Liaocheng City.

The Tomb of Liu Yan is located in Baliliang Village, Shimensong Township, Yanggu County. It dates back to the Qing Dynasty and is classified as an ancient tomb.

In April 1999, the Tomb of Liu Yan was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site under the protection of Liaocheng City.

In the eighth year of the Shunzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1651), Liu Yan was born into a poor farming family in Baliliang Village, eight li east of Yanggu County. When he was seven or eight years old, his father passed away, making life even harder for the family. From a young age, Liu Yan was diligent in his studies and loved reading and listening to stories about ancient sages. He secretly resolved to emulate them. He often studied so intensely that he forgot to eat or sleep.
