Sun Bin Stele

The Sun Bin Stele is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaocheng City.

The Sun Bin Stele is located in Xiaomihunzhen Village, Dabu Township, Yanggu County. It dates back to 1938 and is categorized as a modern-era important historical site and representative architecture.

In April 1999, the Sun Bin Stele was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit of Liaocheng City.

Sun Bin (dates of birth and death unknown), a native of Juanyi (present-day Sun Laojia Village, Hongchuan Town, Juancheng County) in the State of Qi, was a descendant of Sun Wu. His original name is unknown; he came to be known as Sun Bin because he suffered the punishment of having his kneecaps removed. He was born roughly a century after Sun Wu’s death, in the 3rd century BC, in the region between A and Juan (modern-day A’cheng Town, Yanggu County, and Juancheng County, Shandong Province). He was a renowned and legendary military strategist of the mid-Warring States period in China.

Dabu Township: Named after the main village where the township government is located, Dabu Township is situated in the northwest of Yanggu County. It earned its name due to the ancestral residence of residents surnamed Bu. In the late Qing Dynasty, Dabu and nearby villages belonged to the Western Fourth District of Yanggu County. In 1930, the county was divided into 6 districts and 284 townships (towns), with the southern part of present-day Dabu Township belonging to the First District and the northern part to the Third District. In 1946, the county was reorganized into 8 districts, and the villages now part of Dabu Township were divided between the Sixth and Seventh Districts.
