Guotun Town Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall

The Guotun Town Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall is located at the government seat of Guotun Town, Yanggu County.

Guotun Town (formerly Guotun Township) is situated at the northernmost end of Yanggu County and has a proud history of revolutionary struggle. In 1926, Communist Party member Yang Gengxin developed party members in Jiuduyang Village, his hometown in Guotun Township, and established the first Party branch in Yanggu County—the Jiuduyang Branch of the CPC; in January 1928, Yang Gengxin and others organized and launched the Poli Uprising; in 1938, Wang Xiaohu, a Communist Party member from Guotun, and others founded the first anti-Japanese district government in western Shandong, marking the beginning of the anti-Japanese struggle in the Yanggu area.

To commemorate the revolutionary history of Yanggu County, highlight the heroic deeds of revolutionary figures, promote fine historical traditions, inherit the revolutionary spirit of western Shandong, and in 2007, the Guotun Town Party Committee and government invested over 200,000 yuan to build the Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall at the town seat. Through text and images, it tells the heroic stories of revolutionary martyrs such as Wang Yinsheng and Yang Gengxin, the details of the Poli Uprising and the establishment of the first anti-Japanese district government in western Shandong, as well as the significant contributions made by the people of Yanggu during the War of Resistance Against Japan and the Liberation War, including their enthusiastic enlistment in the Liu-Deng Army’s crossing of the Yellow River and their vital role in securing revolutionary victory.

The Guotun Township Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall was established in July 2007. The exhibition hall covers a construction area of 96 square meters and features 23 display panels, detailing the activities and major events of the Communist Party of China in Yanggu County from the winter of 1925 to September 1949. As an important site on Liaocheng’s premium red tourism route, it attracts a large number of visitors each year who come to learn about revolutionary traditions.
