Neiqiu Hanshan

The Hanshan Scenic Area is situated within the boundaries of Pingtoupu and Xingjiayu villages in the northwestern part of Houjiazhuang Township, Neiqiu County, deep in the Taihang Mountains, 75 kilometers from Neiqiu County town, 65 kilometers east of Xingtai City, and 120 kilometers north of Shijiazhuang City. It covers an area of 15 square kilometers, borders the Hebei-Shanxi provincial boundary to the west, and neighbors the national scenic spot Zhangshiyan to the north, sharing the same Zhangshiyan landform.

The Hanshan Scenic Area is a mountainous destination known for its magnificent and beautiful natural landscapes, celebrated for being “majestic, precipitous, green, serene, and extraordinary.” It features over 80 scenic spots, among which the eight most renowned are: “Eight Echoes, Tiger Shadow Cliff, Lovers’ Valley, Splitting the Mountain to Rescue Mother, Sea of Clouds and Pine Waves, Skywalk, Straw Hat Fairy Mountain, and Yellow Scarf Stone Fortress.”

The scenery of the scenic area varies distinctly with the seasons: in early spring, grass and trees turn green and peach blossoms bloom brilliantly; in midsummer, dense forests thrive and a cool breeze refreshes the air; in late autumn, mountains are painted red and forests turn multicolored; in deep winter, ice walls and misty pine trees create a world of silver. The area boasts high mountains, deep valleys, and overlapping peaks, with the main peak Hanshan’ao reaching an elevation of 1,806.3 meters, the highest in Xingtai City. It is rich in diverse flora and fauna, including over 600 species of medicinal herbs. Vast primeval secondary forests cover the mountainsides, with 3,000 acres of evergreen pine woods, and a vegetation coverage rate of 98%. The area has a negative oxygen ion concentration of 200,000/cm³, offering functions such as “oxygen replenishment and lung cleansing, forest bathing,” and is hailed as a “fairyland on earth and a natural oxygen bar.”

The scenic area also features abundant cultural and historical sites. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Yellow Scarves Rebellion army once set up camps here. Remnants of wartime facilities from the Anti-Japanese War, such as the Eighth Route Army’s munitions factory, uniform workshop, and medical station, still remain. It is an ideal destination for leisure, summer retreats, and outdoor exploration.

By Bus: Take a bus from Xingtai or Neiqiu heading to Houjiazhuang, then transfer to a minibus to Xingjiayu to reach the scenic area.
