Southwest Shandong Martyrs' Cemetery

The Southwest Shandong Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural heritage site protected by Shandong Province, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The Southwest Shandong Martyrs' Cemetery, a revolutionary site, is located 200 meters northeast of Sunzhuang Village, Jizhen Town, west of the county seat. The cemetery is divided into two burial areas—north and east—housing the remains of 261 revolutionary martyrs. The eastern burial area contains the remains of Wei Keren, political commissar and director of the political department of the Henan-Jinan-Yubei Military District’s Eastern Henan Column of the Eighth Route Army, Zhou Zhuan, deputy commander of the Fifth Sub-district of the Henan-Jinan-Yubei Military District, Wang Xuejing, the magistrate of Cao County, Xiang Fengzhi, deputy secretary of the Qibin County Committee of the Communist Party of China, Mao Yixuan, head of the tax bureau of Huxi Administrative Office, and other martyrs. The northern burial area not only holds those who perished during the anti-sweeping campaigns in the War of Resistance Against Japan but has also successively received the remains of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War, the Korean War, and the counterattack against Vietnam, totaling 253 individuals. In January 1988, it was approved as a key protected revolutionary memorial site in Shandong Province. In 2006, it was designated as a provincial-level patriotic education base.
