【Hongjiao Temple】An ancient site. Originally named Putuo Monastery, it was renamed Qinxi Monastery during the Tang Dynasty. Located southwest of Fengcun in Ren County. First built during the Han Dynasty, it was renamed Hongjiao Monastery in the third year of the Dading era of the Jin Dynasty (1163 AD). It was called Hongjiao Temple during the Ming Dynasty. The temple was demolished in the early years after liberation. A stone pagoda base still remains. The temple once housed a mural titled “Zhangxian Delivering a Son,” which was 1.5 zhang high and 3.5 zhang long. It is the oldest temple in Ren County. In 1940, Zhang Fayuan from Yanggutun Village copied its mural “Zhangxian Delivering a Son,” and a woodblock print of it is preserved today.
