Xilong Liu Clan Ancestral Hall

The Xilong Liu Clan Ancestral Hall is a cultural relics protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The Xilong Liu Clan Ancestral Hall is located in Xilongliujiagroup, Xilong Village, Longcheng Town, Pengze County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. In April 1986, it was designated as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Pengze County, and in March 2018, it was listed as part of the Sixth Batch of Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units. It is the largest well-preserved Qing Dynasty ancestral hall discovered so far in Pengze.

The Xilong Liu Clan Ancestral Hall was first built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Since its construction, it has served continuously as the ancestral hall for the Liu family of Xilong Village. With a large floor area and a multi-compartment layout structure, it provides a rare physical reference for the study of Qing Dynasty villages, clans, and ancestral halls. The ancestral hall is 16.8 meters wide and 26 meters deep, with a total construction area of approximately 430 square meters. It is a three-courtyard, two-courtyard-patio brick-and-wood structure in the Qing Dynasty Huizhou architectural style. It features side chambers, a front porch, corridors leading to the main hall, and over ten rooms of various sizes. Most of the doors, windows, beams, and columns retain well-preserved decorative carvings. Stone bases, stone gates, and stone benches feature fine carving work with clear patterns. The stone flagpoles at the entrance and a contemporary Qing Dynasty residential house on the left side are also well preserved.
