Former Site of the Min-Zhe-Gan Provincial Committee of the CPC in Hengfeng

The Former Site of the Min-Zhe-Gan Provincial Committee of the CPC is a classic red tourism destination.

The Min-Zhe-Gan Revolutionary Base was one of the six most renowned revolutionary bases in China during the Second Revolutionary Civil War period. Chairman Mao Zedong highly praised it as the "revolutionary base in the style of Fang Zhimin" and the "model Min-Zhe-Gan Province." The former site of the Min-Zhe-Gan Provincial Committee is located in Fenglin Village, Gegang Town, Hengfeng County, amid rolling green hills and vibrant red foliage. It covers an area of 1,000 square meters and is enclosed by walls. On both sides of the gate, a couplet written at the time can still be clearly seen: “Resolutely implement the Party’s offensive line, completely crush the enemy’s fifth encirclement campaign.” Inside the gate is a small courtyard planted with large banana trees. The site consists of single-story, single-row civil-structured buildings that once housed various departments of the Provincial Committee, including the Secretariat, Organization Department, Propaganda Department, Women's Department, and the Department of Work in White Areas. The Min-Zhe-Gan Provincial Committee of the CPC was the highest leading body of the Communist Party in the Min-Zhe-Gan Revolutionary Base. Comrade Fang Zhimin, then Chairman of the Provincial Soviet, resided here in 1931 when he also served as Secretary of the Provincial Committee. Fang Zhimin’s office-cum-bedroom has been well preserved, with furnishings remaining as they were at the time, including the four-poster bed he slept on and walls pasted with issues of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Newspaper and the Red Northeast Newspaper. On November 30, 1959, the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province approved it as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit. On December 1996, the State Council approved it as a national key cultural relics protection unit. In 1995, the Shangrao Regional Committee designated it as a regional patriotism education base. It is located in Gegang, Hengfeng County, Shangrao, Jiangxi.
