Gegang Lenin Park

Gegang Lenin Park is situated on the banks of the Gexi River in Gegang Town, spanning more than 12,000 square meters. It was personally founded by Comrade Fang Zhimin and is the earliest people's park established in the history of our Party. The park includes pavilions, flower gardens, walking paths, small bridges over streams, as well as a hexagonal red-star pavilion, a swimming pool, and a lotus pond. It was the most popular recreational destination for soldiers and civilians in the Soviet area at that time. Fang Zhimin and the Party and government leaders of the Soviet area often came to the park to read, swim, and take walks. Teachers and students from the Soviet art studio frequently came to Lenin Park for sketching, and some visitors even learned to draw cartoons from them. During festivals, soldiers and civilians in the Soviet area would hold grand cultural and artistic events in Lenin Park.

Fang Zhimin, a native of Yiyang County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. He joined the Chinese Socialist Youth League in August 1922 and transferred to the Communist Party of China in March 1923. In January 1928, he participated in leading the Yiheng Uprising, establishing the Northeastern Jiangxi Soviet Area, and led the formation of the 10th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. He successively served as Chairman of the Soviet Governments of the Northeastern Jiangxi Province and the Min-Zhe-Jiang-Xi Province, Political Commissar of the 10th and 11th Armies of the Red Army, and Secretary of the Min-Zhe-Jiang-Xi Provincial Committee of the CPC. Gegang Town: Located in the northern part of Hengfeng, Gegang Town borders Yiyang, Dexing, and Shangrao counties, and is 35 kilometers from the county seat. It currently administers 8 village committees, 1 forest farm, 1 neighborhood committee, and 91 natural villages, with a population of 31,000 and an area of 115 square kilometers.
