Colorful Mountain

Colorful Mountain is located on the southwestern border of Yugan County, adjacent to Yingtan City and the Liwen Expressway, and connects to Baiyun Peak of Limei Ridge. Originally named Dragon Mountain, it was renamed Colorful Mountain after a legend stating that when Wu Rui, the King of Changsha during the Han Dynasty, was born, a spectrum of five-colored clouds appeared atop the mountain. The mountain stretches 15 km in length, with two main peaks standing on the eastern and western sides. In between, the ridges undulate, covered with lush trees, offering pleasant scenery and abundant animal resources. It is home to over 200 species of birds, as well as nationally protected animals such as tigers, leopards, wild boars, and wolves. Notable attractions include Longma Bridge, Turtle Mountain, Immortal’s Fishing Net, Scholar’s Collapse, Inkstone Pool Spring, Fish-Playing Islet, Moth Clinging to the Cliff, Dog-Sleeping Mountain, Ten Thousand Pines Shrine, and Ruiwang Pavilion. Throughout history, many literati and poets have visited this mountain and left behind numerous masterpieces: “Gazing up at the colorful mountain, its scenery remains unchanged; the bridge and water still inspire songs of clear ripples. Turtles play within the immortal’s net, the scholar’s collapse echoes the inkstone pool spring. Fish often linger by Horse Saddle Rock, moths cling to cliffs opposite dog-sleeping hills. Ruiwang Pavilion’s drums stir egrets’ dreamy hearts, and the morning planting of ten thousand pines reaches the ear.” It boasts rich cultural significance and great tourism value.

Ruiwang Pavilion is one of the main attractions of Colorful Mountain. Majestic in scale and elegant in environment, the pavilion is divided into upper, middle, and lower halls. To the left of the Ruiwang Hall is an exquisitely designed, flower-hall-style ancient stage, while to the right are the Guanyin Hall, Zen Hall, and dining hall. Pilgrims come in an endless stream, and the incense burning here is especially thriving.
