Tomb of King Lanling
The Tomb of King Lanling is a cultural tourism attraction.
Highlights The "King Lanling in Battle" piece is a musical composition that celebrates the valor and military prowess of Gao Changgong. It is solemn, majestic, ancient, and melodious. At the time, Luoyang, an important stronghold of the Northern Qi Dynasty, was besieged by a 100,000-strong army from the Northern Zhou. The emperor of the Northern Qi urgently dispatched troops from all regions to relieve the siege. Gao Su personally led five hundred elite cavalry, broke through the encirclement of the Zhou forces, and advanced straight to the city walls, where he joined forces with the defenders inside to launch a combined attack, defeating the Zhou army and lifting the siege of Luoyang. To commemorate King Lanling’s achievements, the soldiers collectively composed the "King Lanling in Battle" piece. This melody later spread to Japan, where it became very popular. Introduction Located 5 kilometers south of Ci County, it is the tomb of Gao Su, grandson of Emperor Wu of the Northern Qi Dynasty, Gao Huan. The tomb mound is large, surrounded by an ornamental lattice wall, and there is a stele pavilion in the burial grounds. King Lanling, Gao Su, styled Changgong, was a renowned general of the late Northern Qi Dynasty who excelled in both civil and military affairs. Throughout his life, he served his superiors with loyalty and treated his subordinates with kindness, earning numerous military accolades. He successively held titles such as Prince of Lanling in Xuzhou, Grand General, Grand Marshal, and Minister over the Masses. Because of his delicate appearance, he wore a fearsome mask during battles to intimidate enemies. His outstanding military achievements aroused the jealousy of the then emperor (his cousin Gao Wei), who eventually had him put to death.
