Dongwushi Reservoir Scenic Area

Dongwushi Reservoir Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Dongwushi Reservoir Scenic Area is located in Cixian County, about 30 kilometers southwest of Handan City. The reservoir has a maximum water surface area of over 20,000 acres and a maximum water storage capacity of 152 million cubic meters. About one li (0.5 km) to the east of the reservoir lies a village named Dongwushi Village, which was named after a military examination candidate of the Ming Dynasty’s imperial guards, and the reservoir takes its name from the village.

Every summer, the area is dotted with endless blue waters and swarms of visitors, with many coming to boat and play in the water. To the west of the reservoir lies a long, narrow island called Feng Island, also known as Sun Island. To the east of Sun Island is a vast shallow-water area with crystal-clear lake water and rippling blue waves, making it an ideal spot for swimming and playing in the water. To the west of Sun Island, the water takes on a deep green hue, stretching endlessly, where speedboats can cruise freely. The reservoir’s shores are covered with lush green grass, willows and poplars thrive in vibrant green, and colorful umbrellas are scattered throughout like blooming flowers.
