Yuanying Academy

Yuanying Academy, also known as the Yuanying Cultural Memorial Hall. The academy was funded and built by Master Yuanying. Construction of the school building began in 1943, with initial completion in 1944, and it was fully finished by 1946. The academy faces southeast, and the building is 33 meters long and 11.5 meters wide, a two-story structure made of earth and wood, with a floor area of 750 square meters and a total site area of over 1,000 square meters.

In 1947, the first cohort of students was enrolled. The school welcomed students from all regions, largely addressing the educational needs of students within the Pinghu Town area at the time. The school nurtured generations of outstanding talents, one of whom was Wu Liantian, former director of the Fujian Provincial Old Revolutionary Base Areas Office.

In 2004, due to the severe deterioration of the original building, a new Yuanying Academy was constructed, and all students were relocated to the new premises.

In 2008, on the 130th anniversary of Master Yuanying’s birth, the academy was renovated and repurposed as the Yuanying Cultural Memorial Hall in honor of his patriotism, devotion to Buddhism, and love for family.
