The ancient Baixi Natural Grassland in Gutian is located by Baixi Village, about 10 kilometers from ShanYang Town, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, covering a total area of over 24,000 acres. Here, rolling mountains create picturesque scenery, with endless greenery and beautiful landscapes. Climbing up to the ridge and looking around, you’ll see undulating mountain ranges shrouded in mist, as well as fields, streams, rocky outcrops, and man-made lakes that come together to form stunning scenes of southern China’s natural beauty. From the grassland, you can gaze into the distance and take in the magnificent view of the vast meadow, which is both refreshing and uplifting. Known as the “Grassland of the South,” it attracts large numbers of tourists and photography enthusiasts every year with its unique and beautiful natural landscape. Every April to May, the thousands of acres of azaleas on the Baixi Grassland in ShanYang Town, Gutian County, burst into bloom. Hiking up the lush green meadow, you’ll see fiery red azaleas thriving vibrantly among the green mountains and trees—clusters upon clusters blooming with such intensity and brilliance.
