Shanyang Liyang Stone Arch Corridor Bridge

The Shanyang Liyang Stone Arch Corridor Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Gutian County.

The Shanyang Liyang Stone Arch Corridor Bridge is located about 1 kilometer southeast of Liyang Village, Shanyang Town. Its original construction date is unknown, but it was renovated in June of the first year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1875). Oriented from southeast to northwest, it is a single-arch stone corridor bridge with a floor area of 228 square meters. The bridge is 30 meters long, 7.6 meters wide, with an arch span of 3.6 meters and a rise of 2.1 meters. The bridge deck is paved with rough stones, and the bridge house features seven bays in width and four pillars in depth, with a post-and-lintel wooden frame structure, a hip-and-gable roof, and additional awnings at both ends. There are two shrines on the bridge, and two tomb path steles stand at the northeastern bridgehead. The central beam bears an inscription reading “Renovated on the tenth day of the sixth month of the first year of the Guangxu reign.” This bridge holds certain value for the study of wooden arch bridge architecture and local folk culture.

It was designated as the eighth batch of county-level cultural relic protection units in Gutian County in December 2018.

Liyang Village: Liyang Village is located at the 58-kilometer mark of the Guning Highway. It borders Shanyang Village and Xiazhuang Village to the east, Nanyang Village of Heting Town to the west, Jingbian to the south, and Dongji Village of Heting Town to the north. The village covers an area of 1.2 square kilometers, with mountainous land spanning 13,000 mu. In 2011, it was listed as a county-level new rural demonstration village. The current population is 830, with 249 households divided among 15 villager groups. The village has a two-committee team of six members. The village Party branch consists of 37 members, including five female Party members. Aside from financial transfers from higher authorities, the village collective has no other sources of income.
