Changquan Well

Changquan Well is a cultural relic protection unit of Gutian County.

Changquan Well is located in the center of Bandou Village, ShanYang Town, Gutian County, Ningde City, Fujian Province. The well’s construction date is unknown. On the western side of the well’s railing, symmetrical stone pillars have been added, with a central stone slab inscribed with the three large characters “长泉井” (Changquan Well), and an inscription noting the year 1850 during the 30th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. The well platform measures 2m × 2m, the well railing is square, sized 1.05 × 1.05m, the well is 1.78m deep, and the well railing, platform, pillars, and slab are all made of bluestone. Changquan Well remains cool in summer and warm in winter, quenching thirst and relieving heat — it is still used by villagers today. A stele stands beside the well, which is quite rare. The well holds significant reference value for studying the local geological structure and hydrological features.

Bandou Village: Bandou Village is situated at the border between Gutian and Luoyuan, covering an area of 1.2 square kilometers. It is 14 kilometers from the town government, with a population of 1,220, 359 households, and 23 villager groups. It administers one natural village, Tingyang, and currently has 25 Party members and 6 members of the village two-committee. Aside from fiscal transfer payments from higher authorities, the village collective has no other income.

The village is nestled in beautiful mountainous terrain, surrounded by hills on all sides, with over 95% forest coverage. The village has a solid agricultural foundation, and plans are underway this year to build a standardized edible fungus factory.
