The Exclusively Filial and Fraternal Wooden Memorial Archway is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Exclusively Filial and Fraternal Wooden Memorial Archway

Located in the center of Hetang Village, Hetang Town, it was first built in the 32nd year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1604), and was renovated in the 14th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1749) and again in 1983. This archway is a wooden pavilion-style structure, with a base area of 15.7 × 3.66 square meters. It has four pillars, three bays, and three stories, and stands about 6.3 meters tall. The four central pillars all have stone columns. The central bay features a single-eave, five-ridge roof, beneath which there are clay sculptures depicting figures, flowers, and birds. The central plaque bears inscriptions on both sides: “First in Jiangxia” and “Exclusively Filial and Fraternal.” The side bays have gable-and-hip roofs, with four layers of bracket sets (dougong) under the eaves. This archway was erected to honor the chaste woman Huang Jiugu.

In 2001, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
