The former site of the Yangxi Township Farmers' Association is a classic red tourism destination.

The former site of the Yangxi Township Farmers' Association is located within the Yangxi Gospel Church on the Old Street of Shangjie Village, Yangxi Town, Meilie District.

In January 1934, during the Red Army's Eastern Army campaign to capture Shaxian, a unit of the Eastern Army advanced southward from Shaxian, expanding the red zone to Yangxi Township and setting up camp in the homes of local villagers on Shangjie Street. The Red Army spread revolutionary ideals among the people; they left numerous slogans on the white walls and black bricks of houses across Yangxi Township, vigorously mobilizing the masses; they helped establish the Yangxi Farmers' Association, with Deng Rifu as its chairman. After the establishment of the Farmers' Association, with the support of the Red Army, it led the local people in striking against the local tyrants and landlords in the Yangxi area, raising grain and funds, and organizing the collection of medicinal herbs which were transported to the Shaxian front lines to support the Red Army's Eastern Army in the liberation of Shaxian. After the Red Army captured Shaxian, the Association organized the local people to carry spoils of war back from Shaxian. The Yangxi Township Farmers' Association also carried out a campaign to recruit more soldiers for the Red Army in the township, encouraging young people to join the Red Army forces and providing them with much-needed manpower. However, with the failure of the Fifth Encirclement Campaign, the activities of the Yangxi Township Farmers' Association also came to an end.

The former site of the Yangxi Township Farmers' Association was originally a Christian church in Yangxi Township, built in 1923. It consists of one Western-style church building and one Chinese-style pastor’s residence, covering an area of 670 square meters.

Yangxi Town: Yangxi Town is 12 kilometers from downtown Sanming. It administers eight administrative villages. National Highway 205, the Yingxia Railway, and the Shaxi River run through the town.

Historical Evolution: In 1997, the area covered 72 square kilometers with a population of 9,000, administering eight village committees: Xinjie, Shangjie, Yangkouzai, Xiaokeng, Lianmao, Yandou, Baofanfang, and Xiakeng. In 2003, it still administered eight administrative villages, with a population of 8,500 and an area of 72 square kilometers.
