Former Site of the Bixi Township Farmers' Association

The Yuanying Nunnery at the Former Site of the Bixi Township Farmers' Association is located at the entrance of Bixi Village, Chenda Town, Meilie District.

In January 1934, during the Red Army's Eastern Army campaign to capture Shaxian led by Peng Dehuai, Teng Daiyuan, Yang Shangkun, and others, the headquarters of the 3rd Red Army Corps was stationed at Heshan in Fuku, Shaxian. The corps operated in areas including Fuku, Gaizhu, Shanya, Bixi, Yuxi, Changxi, and Shajiao. The Red Army work teams helped establish the Farmers' Association in Bixi Township, Meilie District, mobilizing the masses to assist the Red Army in fundraising, securing provisions, and gathering large quantities of medicinal herbs to treat wounded soldiers. These efforts contributed to the Red Army’s liberation of Shaxian.

The Former Site of the Bixi Township Farmers' Association was originally the Yuanying Nunnery in Bixi Village. Built in the late Qing Dynasty, it faces east and is situated against a hill, featuring an enclosed architectural style. It covers an area of 420 square meters. The nunnery consists of a main hall, a courtyard, and a stage. The layout is square-shaped, with one main gate and two smaller gates at the front, spanning 18 meters in width and 20 meters in depth. In front of the nunnery lies an ancient official road that leads through Diměi to the Mingxi Soviet Area.

Bixi Village: Located at the junction of Mingxi, Shaxian, and Sanming, Bixi Village is 21 kilometers from downtown Sanming. It is the only revolutionary old base village in Meilie District and was named one of the first Red Army villages in Sanming in 2012. The village administers four natural villages: Cuntou, Cunwei, Shenkeng, and Chixia, with a total of 415 households, 1,529 residents, and 52 party members. Among them, 58 households (263 people) belong to the ethnic She minority, residing in the Chixia natural village. The village covers a land area of 27,940 mu, including 26,000 mu of forested land and 1,940 mu of arable land.
