Tingjiangyuan Longmen Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Tingjiangyuan · Longmen Scenic Area is located in Hanqian Village, Anjie Township, Changting County, 30 kilometers east of the county seat, and borders Zhiping Township of Ninghua County as well as Guanqian Town, Tiechang Township, Datong Township, and Xinqiao Town of the same county. It is the source of the Tingjiang River, the mother river of the Hakka people, and one of the twelve scenic wonders of Changting. With its stunning natural scenery and vibrant Hakka culture, it attracts thousands of visitors.

In Tingjiangyuan · Longmen Scenic Area stands a magical rock that soars into the sky like a flying dragon or a towering stone gate. The clear waters of the Tingjiang River flow out from this stone gate, rushing southward for 600 li, down to the Han River, and eventually into the South China Sea. This creates the unique spectacle of “the only Tingjiang River crossing the Dragon Gate.” Within the scenic area, sights such as “One-Line Sky,” “Pillar Reaching the Heavens,” “Dragon Claw,” “Dragon Heart,” and “Dragon Lung” are so naturally exquisite they take your breath away. A tour of the Longmen landscape is both refreshing and unforgettable.

The scenic area contains relics such as the Shennong Ancient Temple, Longmen Temple, Mazu Temple, Hakka Mother Garden, and Earth God Altar, reflecting the diverse religious culture of Hakka villages. In particular, the Shennong Ancient Temple, with a history of several hundred years, enshrines the statue of Emperor Yan, the legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation, who is revered by the people as the god of agriculture and medicine. Most of the early Hakka settlers in Changting migrated from the Central Plains and naturally worshipped Emperor Yan as a deity, embodying the Hakka tradition of “honoring ancestors and staying connected to Chinese heritage.” This also represents a unique cultural phenomenon in Fujian and even among Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. Every year on the 25th day of the fifth lunar month, the Longmen Temple Fair is held, drawing crowds who come to pray for blessings, wealth, and safety.

On the Longmen hills are two battle sites of the Taiping Army: Anping Fort and Huxue Cave. In 1987, archaeologists discovered Taiping Army trenches, artillery positions, and weapons such as swords here. Additionally, the Longmen hills also house a revolutionary martyrs’ cemetery and other historical sites, all of which record the Hakka people’s patriotism, love for their homeland, and the glory of their struggle and dedication.

A few kilometers from the Longmen Scenic Area are the renowned Buddhist destination of “Babao Peak Scenic Area” in western Fujian and the “Dabeishan Ecotourism Area” covered with yew forests. These three scenic areas together form the rich and diverse Tingjiangyuan ecotourism destination. Currently, rural roads have been opened, allowing for a premium 2-day tour route: Tingjiangyuan Longmen — Dabeishan — Babao Peak.

Hanqian Village: Hanqian Village is located upstream of the Tingjiang River, in the northeastern part of Changting County, bordering Guanqian Town and Xinqiao Town of the same county. It is 30 kilometers from the county seat. The village has 12 natural villages, 14 villager groups, 495 households, and 2,083 people, of which over 1,200 are living away from home. The village party branch has 4 party groups, with 52 party members, including 7 female members, 18 members living away, and 4 branch committee members. The village has 720 mu of arable land and 13,000 mu of forest land, including 1,750 mu of bamboo forest.
