Changting Yangguu Ting River Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The scenic area is located in Yangguu Township, Changting County, Longyan City, Fujian Province. It is built along the Ting River basin in Yangguu Township and its tributaries, and is classified as a reservoir-type water conservancy scenic area. Covering an area of 82.1 square kilometers, the scenic zone includes 18.5 square kilometers of water surface.

The scenic area lies in the lower reaches of the Ting River, featuring abundant water flow and crystal-clear water quality, with a diverse range of hydrological landscapes. These include wetland scenery upstream, stony beach landscapes, island views, and expansive water surfaces downstream, creating a highly scenic river system. Due to geological processes, the Longhua Mountain area is predominantly characterized by granite landforms, with its overall shape resembling a roc spreading its wings — a striking formation. The mountain summit has been developed with geo-landscapes such as Tianzi Wall, Dragon Mouth Rock, and Tianmen Stone, which possess a certain degree of rarity and have gained some recognition in the surrounding region. Influenced by the mid-subtropical monsoon climate, the area features subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest vegetation, with rich flora and fauna populations. Free from industrial pollution and minimal human disturbance, the natural ecology is well-preserved, with dense plant growth forming a relatively pristine biological landscape. The high elevation of Longhua Mountain within the scenic area gives rise to seasonal meteorological phenomena such as sea of clouds and misty veils. When combined with the occasionally misty Ting River, the entire area resembles a painting, offering strong visual appeal. The Tingzhou Hydropower Station, a medium-sized power facility spanning both banks of the Ting River, provides open sightlines that can be utilized to create scenic viewing corridors, greatly enhancing the landscape’s aesthetic value. Water conservancy structures such as reservoirs and power stations embody modern hydraulic science and technology, making them suitable for educational purposes. The scenic area also boasts a rich variety of cultural attractions, including five temple sites, three ancient residential complexes, as well as folk customs such as local festivals, Hakka mountain songs, and traditional Hakka cuisine, all contributing to its profound cultural heritage.

The various types of water conservancy landscapes within the scenic area complement and enhance one another, resulting in harmonious and picturesque scenery. With a wealth of natural resources available for development and captivating cultural elements, along with strong rural characteristics, the diversity, scale, and value of the water conservancy scenic resources rank in the upper-middle tier across the province.
