The Main Hall of Chaotouyan Grand Buddha Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The site of the Fourth Anti-“Encirclement and Suppression” Campaign Meeting of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in Fujian — the Main Hall of Chaotouyan Grand Buddha Temple — is located on Nanping Mountain in the suburbs of Changting County, Longyan City. Built during the Song Dynasty, it covers an area of 196 square meters and features a brick-and-wood structure. On February 18, 1932, the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in Fujian held an emergency meeting here to counter the Kuomintang’s fourth “encirclement and suppression” campaign. During the meeting, the “Resolution on Carrying Out Urgent Tasks” was adopted. The resolution called for fully mobilizing the masses, expanding the Red Army, launching armed struggle, and effectively supporting the Central Red Army to achieve an overall victory in the fourth anti-“encirclement and suppression” campaign. In 1961, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The town administers 30 administrative villages, comprising 263 villager groups, with a total of 10,504 households and a population of 41,997, all of whom are Han Chinese and speak the Hakka dialect.
