The Liao Family Ancestral Hall of Xinmin

The Liao Family Ancestral Hall of Xinmin is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Liao Family Ancestral Hall of Xinmin is located on Xinmin Street in Tingzhou Town, Changting County. It faces south and features a brick-and-wood structure with a post-and-lintel and beam-raising frame, surrounded by fireproof walls. The building has a total width of 22 meters and a depth of 45 meters, consisting of a gate tower, rain courtyard, main gate, upper hall, and lower hall. The lower hall is three bays wide and nine bays deep with a front porch. It uses relatively large columns, and the stone column bases feature carvings.

Tingzhou Town: Tingzhou Town in Changting County is located in western Fujian, on the upper reaches of the Ting River, at the southern end of the Wuyi Mountains. It is the seat of the county government. The town covers an area of 10.6 square kilometers, includes nine neighborhood committees, and has a population of 62,600. Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been the site of prefectures, counties, routes, and provincial administrative centers, serving as the ancestral home of the Hakka people. It is a historic city known for its handicrafts and serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of western Fujian.
